So…You Want To Own A Business?

When I think back while growing up in south western Connecticut I can’t remember a time when my father “Pop” wasn’t in business or wasn’t starting a business.   I only remember him having a job or working for someone else when he got into his 60’s & 70’s. You see “Pop” was a terrible employee, he knew that he usually forgot more about the restaurant business than the people he was working for… and Read more…

Successful People Do Things That Most People Won’t Do…

I see statements like this almost every day on social media.  So, I got to thinking…what is something that I don’t want to do and then I do it anyway. I started reminiscing about when I was in 5th grade.  I’ll never forget my teacher Mr. Rooney, he was a big Irish man with a gentle spirit, although he had a Shillelagh (Irish wooden club) nearby at all times to keep us in line. At the Read more…

I Created It Out Of Thin Air.

Whew…  This past weekend I finished something that I had only dreamed about.  No, I didn’t go skydiving or spend the weekend on The French Riviera.  Anybody can do those things if you have the guts and the $$$, this was better than that. If you know anything about me then you know that I’ve been looking for a business to start because I’ve had a few medical setbacks. So, in September I decided to Read more…

A Lesson In Leadership From My Son.

My son Joey has played soccer ever since he was 3 years old.  In our community soccer is the main sport, everyone played and our kids were no different. Joey started to get noticed by some of the club coaches when he was 7 years old.  He was dominating in the rec league in town so I decided to let him play club soccer…in some states it’s called travel league. Joey was always the smallest Read more…

Now I Have A Story To Tell For The Rest Of My Life…

Our place was just out the door of a Pace Membership Warehouse.  Pace eventually got bought out by Sam’s Club.  When I say the location was prime I mean there was no other prepared food for a mile or Read more…

The Day My “Cooper” Was Paralyzed.

The day started out like every other day… I was cooking breakfast and my little guy Cooper (my dog) was doing his usual thing… He was at my feet waiting for scraps to drop. Well, he started hacking like he does sometimes when he gets something caught in his throat… But this was a little different, his whole body was heaving while trying to get up a hair ball or something. I was finished with cooking my breakfast Read more…

I Feel Like A Voo Doo Doll…

So for those of you that don’t know I have had back & knee issues since 1989…a long time. I’ve tried everything to relieve the pain… The surgeons say they can’t help because I have 3 swollen/bulging discs and surgery won’t help. Most of the pain is caused by arthritis and lack of cartilage so my joints are bone on bone. Chiropractic and massage helps for a few days but for the most part I’m in pain 24/7. Read more…

And I Do It All With One Eyeball Tied Behind My Back.

Well, it’s pale so there’s no need for surgery…… said the most highly sought after Opthamologist in Tampa Bay. I immediately asked….what does that mean? Well…. what I mean is your optic nerve is dead and you’ll never see out of this eye again. At first I was really ticked off at the lack of his bedside manner …..to be honest I felt like punching him!! Then I started to think what the heck am Read more…
